[edit] How do I bring down the in-game console?

Press shift+tilde

Tilde (~) is the button left of the 1, above the tab key, and below the escape key.

[edit] How do I use the grappling hook?

Bind a key to +button12. Also some client mods allow you to set this bind through the menu system.

[edit] How do I use the jetpack?

Bind a key to jetpack (or type /jetpack in console) as with the grappling hook. After equipping the jetpack, you can use it to fly by jumping then pressing your +use key.

This only works on servers running the JA+ mod.

[edit] How do I put colors in my name?

See Game Basics:Colored Text

[edit] How do I save my settings and binds?

In the console, type \writeconfig <filename> and when you want to reload it, type \exec <filename>. Note that if you are doing this for your main binds, if you're currently playing a mod (such as JA+) the file will be placed in the folder for that mod. You will want your main CFG files to be in the base folder so that you can retrieve them in any mod.

[edit] How do I install mods

Note: This is referring to actual JA Mods, like JA+ and Movie Battles. After downloading the appropriate files, you'll want to place them in a folder within the GameData folder. For instance, the files for JA+ should be installed to the \GameData\japlus folder.

[edit] How do I install maps, skins, HUD skins, hilts, etc.?

These are usually distributed in PK3 files. You will want to place the PK3 file in the \GameData\base directory.

[edit] How Do I Minimize the Game?

Unfortunately, like other games based on the Quake 3 engine, minimizing the game window can be troublesome. There are a couple of ways to get around this.

  • In a pinch, you can do this: Press CTRL+Shift+Esc to make the Windows Task Manager appear, then under the Applications tab, right-click the Jedi Knight©: Jedi Academy (MP) task and choose Minimize.
