NOTICE: The wiki has undergone updates and everything is running smoothly. I am still working on the CSS so there are a few minor visual kinks.

[edit] How to Use and Contribute to the Wiki

Please consult the MediaWiki User's Guide for information on how to use and contribute to this wiki.

[edit] Use the Summary Box

I know its easy to omit this, but please always try to fill in the Summary box before you post with a brief note about what you added or changed. This will show up on the Recent Changes page next to your entry, allowing people to easy tell what you did.

[edit] Cross-Link Other Articles

Whenever you mention something that has its own page on this wiki, or may have one in the future, go ahead and turn that word into a link. You do this by determining what that page's name is or will be, then if, for example I were mentioning Ultra Utility I would write it as Extensions:Ultra Utility to use the actual page name, or Boba's UU for alternate text, and it would appear as Ultra Utility or Boba's UU, respectively. Adding links like this is important because it allows readers to find related things and gain broader knowledge or clarification.

[edit] When to Sign

It is only adviseable for authors to "sign" their articles when they are posting some sort of commentary or subjective opinion, or to lend authority to an article (like if Boba writes about UU), or when making a small addendum, note, or forward. People can always tell who contributed an article by viewing the page's history. The problem with signing an entire page is that the nature of wikis means that most articles will be edited and re-edited many times, and most term paper articles will have many authors over time.

  • This does not apply to discussion pages. Always sign everything you write on these pages. This also, of course, does not apply to material that is quoted from external sources, always cite any external sources, where applicable.

[edit] Preview your work

Remember to use the "Show Preview" button to check over your work before posting, instead of posting, then reposting your fixes. This saves space and keeps the Recent Changes page clean.

[edit] Use Category Tags

Whenever you start a new page, be sure to put category tags at the bottom of your page so your page will be grouped with other similar pages, which is important for the organization of the wiki. For instance, the page Reference:Entities has the following category tags:
