Ultra Utility is a JA related project created by Bobafett. It comprises the Kill Tracker that has become a popular item in the community, along with several other useful 'utilities', making it useful to a diverse range of people.

Contents

[edit] Current Status

Ultra Utility (version 3) is currently released as Public Beta, and is in its 16th build.

[edit] Included Utilities

Ultra Utility is named as such for the many "Programs" it contains. Being the two most popularly used 'programs', the Killtracker and Media Player each have their own 'tab' on the main window for easy access.

[edit] Minimizer

While Ingame, this allows a player to minimize the game and access the desktop by using the '!mini' chat command. The game can then be restored by clicking the button on the newly formed window, or the corresponding button on the main UU window.

[edit] KillTracker

The KillTracker, as its name suggests, tracks a players kills ingame, and is the common 'program' in the majority of gaming utilities, Jedi Academy and otherwise. Ultra Utility offers detailed tracking, including seperate Player and Bot trackers, weapon kills/deaths, ratios for kills/deaths/duels, kill stats for specific opponents (each name is stored), Capture the Flag statistics, and 'custom chat messages' that get sent to public/private chat when certain incidents occur (death, losing/winning a duel, etc).

[edit] Media Player

This handy utility plays music a player has on his computer, while he/she is ingame. The advantage as compared to conventional music players is that the music may be controlled in game by typing commands such as '!play' in public chat. The Player also offers the ability to create seperate playlists, play online radio, alter the tempo, pitch, and has an equalizer.

[edit] Favourite Servers List

This 'manager' lists the user's favourite servers, and lets one see several elements of the server, such as:

  • The players currently connected
  • CVars
  • RCON Controls
  • Force Powers and Weapons available on the server

Also, the listing allows a player to connect directly to a server by selecting the server and clicking 'Join Selected Server' (also occurs by double clicking a server)

[edit] Clan Manager

The Clan Manager allows one to store info about his or her clan (whether he is leader or just a member), and update the info. The manager stores server info such as the IP (and allows a player to jump straight to the server as in the Favourite Server Listing), Clan Members, Ranks, Current 'Clan Wars', Latest Promotions and Recruits, and any extra notes.

The 'Clan Info' is password protected to stop it being editted by 'unwanted parties', and can also be saved to an external file and distributed to other clan members who use UU, allowing them to load all the latest clan stuffs from it.

[edit] Console Monitor

While the game is minimized, the Console Monitor may be opened to see all current console activity. The monitor allows a user to chat (clan, public, or private), and execute commands, while the game remains minimized.

[edit] Current Server Info

This Utility works similarly to the Favourite Server Listings, but for the server the player is currently connected to. This window, unlike the Server Listings, also displays the current scores held by players, plus the ability to check out the 'stats' (name, hilts, sabers, current model/skin, and KT statistics) of a currently connected player.

[edit] Allies/Reminders

This simple window stores the names of people you specify as 'friends or allies', and also any 'notes' you record for yourself. If someone recorded as an Ally joins the server you are on, a 'greeting' message is displayed for them from you.

[edit] Ingame Menu

Ultra Utility 'hijacks' the InGame Console when a player pushes a certain HotKey combination (customizable in UU), which gives access to numerous 'menus':

  • Messages - Customized in UU's 'Ingame Menu Settings', and displays a list of 'Message Binds', which when selected (with the corresponding key), will display a message in public chat.
